Moving Column or Rows in Excel
This post shows a simple way to move (reorder) a column in a list using your mouse and … one finger!
Purpose of this post
As you open a “database” (a list) in a workbook and observe that the columns are not in an order that suits you. You decide to move them around. The only way you know how to do this is to use Cut and Paste Insert. This may take a while since the list has twelve columns!
A few months ago I accidentally discover a very innovative way to move a row down or up up in a list. Just thought I would try something and it worked! I had never seen this technique before so I thought there must be others that would like to know about it. I finally decide to share that tip with the world!
You can download the workbook Moving Columns.xlsx by clicking the link provided so we can save time. We will start with moving a column then we will see that moving a row is pretty much the same.
